Sacombe Simmentals Herd Sires
siressub copy

Continuing our passion at Sacombe for quality genetics, our sire selection process is based on some of the true greats of the breed.

We believe in selecting bulls which not only compliment our female genetic based, but will help create the type of cow for today’s market place.

A big believer in using estimated breeding values and DNA testing, we also look for power, length, locomotion and natural fleshing ability.

We currently have three herd sires along with an extensive store of semen.

Along with specialist AI sires, three stock sires are currently used in the Sacombe herd:

header_worldclass
  • Sire: Kilbride Farm Newry
  • Dam:Clonagh Posh Klowna

Purchased at the Clonagh Production Sale for €6,600, World Class is a Kilbride Farm Newry son out of Clonagh Posh-Klowna, who is a daughter of Anatrim Jacob. We were particualry impressed with his growth rate for his age, his correctness and power in his backend.

At just 17 months old World Class weighed in at 1030kg and he has averaged 2kg from birth to 510 days. We are exceptionally pleased as to how this bull is performing.

2010 show results:

  • Male and breed champion Herts County Show
  • Reserve male champion East of England Show
  • Male and overall reserve breed champion Royal Norfolk Show
  • Reserve overall junior champion Great Yorkshire Show (National Show)

His first calves are now on the ground and are easily calved and stamped just like him, long, full of muscle with exceptional growth for age.

Clonagh World Class

header_william
  • Sire: Popes Laird
  • Dam: Grangewood Sundial

Having stood second in his class, William was bought at the Perth Bull sales in Stirling for 11,000gns. He is a Popes Laird son and is out of the Blackford Falcon daughter Grangewood Sundial. We first admired William at the Royal Show where he stood first in his class. He has a calving ease of +6.7, a terminal sire index of +28 and a self replacing index of +38.

His first calves are hitting the ground thick and fast and are very thrifty and really looking the part.
